Publishing schedule
Newsletter subscribers get at most two e-mails a month, usually sent on the first and third Tuesdays of the month.
I update the site whenever. Blog posts aren’t always sent out as e-mail newsletters, but are announced to those following along via RSS, social media, etc. And updates to things like the Quote barn or Recommendations are mostly snuck in along the way.
The podcast updates on Wednesdays, mostly weekly.

Style guide
I have not been consistent over time. Trying to be more so lately. No harm in keeping notes visible.
Punctuation
- Titles use sentence case. Name of the site does not. Oops.
- Use ampersands (&) in titles, headings, and excerpts, except after punctuation where it looks weird (the ‘looks weird’ rule):
- Like this → ‘this, that & the other’
- Also → ‘this, that—and the other’
Quotations & citations
- Block quotes
<bq>don’t need surrounding quote marks. - Inline quotes do, and should be italicized.
- Citations in callouts, at least in the Quote barn, such as:
Word choice
- Avoid:
just,here, passive voice.
Writing
- Skip the jargon, or explain it.
- Find the subject, the person, the point…
Color
Photos
‘Featured images’ for posts are 16×9. The theme rounds corners.
Use real photos, mostly my own.
